Dear Friends, Every week in our church bulletin we publish our Purpose Statement. It reads.... The purpose of New Bedford Presbyterian Church is to celebrate and worship Jesus Christ as our Lord. We will share the love and hope of God in our community and world. As a joyful family we seek to be more like Christ in thoughts, words and actions. I want to share some thoughts on this statement. This statement begins with the centrality of Jesus Christ. He is central in our church. Throughout this web page you will see the many programs and ministries that take place in our church. The goal of everything we do is to grow closer and closer to our Lord. We believe a walk with Christ begins with worship and celebration. Our time together Sunday mornings is truly a celebration. It is our belief that worship is primarily a praising of God for the joy of being His children. Every Sunday morning in music and in sermon we praise the Lord. Because we are His children we receive love and hope. In a world that is often seeking love and lacking hope we know that we rest in the love and care of our Heavenly Father. We seek to share that Good News with people both locally and globally. We are deeply involved in missions. Beginning in our own area and spreading to our world. Almost one quarter of our active membership have journeyed on mission trips to Mexico or to areas in our own country. The love and hope of Christ is to be shared. Finally, we truly see ourselves as a joyful family. Every person experiences times of joy, times of struggle, and times of sorrow. New Bedford Church is a family that is present in these times of joy and in the difficult times. Our family includes people of all ages. We have many children, many teens, many families, and many seniors. A great strength of our church is the intergenerational nature of our family. We laugh together (often) and, at times, we cry together. As Pastor of New Bedford Church I invite you to come and be part of our family. Begin by seeing the many ministries of our church on these pages.... but then come and visit and experience the joy of our church family. Faithfully yours, Doug Runyan E-mail Pastor Doug at Pastor@NewBedfordChurch.org |
